Meet RJB

Robert "Bob" James Beckert (RJB), beloved and devoted husband, father, friend, and co-worker was killed in a car accident on February 5, 2004 traveling home from a business trip. Bob is survived by wife Nancy, and kids Kaitlin, Kristin, Brittany and Brian.

Bob was a 1976 graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School and a member of the 1974 & 1976 State Championship Cross Country (XC) Team and a member of the wrestling team. Bob was active in his local community. He served as scout leader and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Bob served as a Religious Ed teacher at St. Mary's-Stony Hill Church in Watchung and he was a member of the Watchung Optimist Club and served a term as President. You would often find him in attendance at many WHRHS athletic events. Whether it was watching his daughters run cross country with the same coach he had, a varsity basketball game or wrestling match. He was the ultimate alumnus but above all, Bob was the all around family man.

On behalf of the Bob Beckert Memorial Fund Committee, we would like to welcome you to help us celebrate the life and cherished memories of Bob Beckert.  Each year, hundreds gather from around the globe to join us in remembrance of Bob during a fun and high-energy Memorial 5k.  The race proceeds and donated funds are contributed towards scholarships for deserving Watchung Hills Regional High School graduating seniors and youth organizations in the local community.  Going forward, the Bob Beckert Memorial Fund Committee has set a goal to sustain the Bob Beckert Memorial 5k race to 2023, while increasing race attendance, awarded scholarship money and donations to the youth organizations in the community. Please help us achieve our goal and to continue to keep his memory alive.

Thank you,
